ACMNP Director of Program & Leadership Advancement

A Christian Ministry in the National Parks

Search Announcement:

Director of Program & Leadership Advancement

December 20, 2011

A Christian Ministry in the National Parks(ACMNP) provides opportunities for Christian worship and community to the people who live, work, and visit America’s national parks. This ministry is carried out by undergraduate students and seminarians who take seasonal jobs in the parks and lead services during the weekends.

A Christian Ministry in the National Parks provides this ministry in over 20 national parks each year through 50 teams of 3-5 students, most led by a seminary student, and most supported by a local Ministry Support Committee. A small national ACMNP staff team located in Denver, Colorado recruits students, raises funds, and directly relates to National Park Service staff and local park concessionaires for each years’ ministry.

A Christian Ministry in the National Parks is actively searching for an individual to focus on:

  1. Enriching ACMNP’s existing ministry programs in the parks.
  2. Spearheading a new work to leverage each student’s ministry experience for accelerated growth as a Christian leader – prepared to serve the local church and the world.

The Director of Program and Leadership Advancement is a new position created to bring additional energy, creativity, and resources to the local Ministry Support Committees who directly support ACMNP’s students each summer. In addition, the new Director will use technology and other resources, means, and mentors to see that students who serve with A Christian Ministry in the National Parks develop leadership qualities and skills for their future service in the local church.

The tasks of this role will require:

  • A close working relationship with the Executive Director of A Christian Ministry in the National Parks, Rev. Spencer Lundgaard, and the rest of the staff team in the Denver office.
  • Extensive travel in the national parks in the summers and the shoulder seasons.
  • A love for students, a heart for ministry, a mind for the operational side of a ministry, a great appreciation for the national parks, and a call to prepare future leaders for the church.
